Lake Jyväsjärvi
The lake lies just south of the centre, ringed by a waterside path and crossed by bridges, giving the map a large, calm shape around which the city is arranged.

La mappa
Jyväskylä Map Poster & Print
Jyväskylä lies in Central Finland, at the northern end of the Päijänne lake system, where Lake Jyväsjärvi opens toward larger waters to the south. From above, the city is defined by water and forest: shorelines curl in every direction, bridges cross narrow straits, and neighbourhoods spread over wooded ridges and around smaller lakes. At the centre, a regular grid of streets fills the ground between the lake and the Harju ridge.
The city is closely linked with Alvar Aalto, who spent his early years here and designed many of its buildings, including parts of the University of Jyväskylä campus. The university gives the city a large student population, and every summer the gravel roads of the surrounding countryside host Rally Finland, one of the best-known events on the World Rally Championship calendar.
A Jyväskylä map poster captures an intricate city shape, where land and water interlock and roads bend around bays, points and islands. The contrast between the straight lines of the centre and the organic forms of the lakes makes it especially striking in Blueprint or Noir.

Central grid
Between the lake and the Harju ridge, the town centre follows a regular grid of blocks, a tidy rectangle clearly distinct from the curving suburban roads around it.
University campus
The Seminaarinmäki campus, with buildings by Alvar Aalto, sits on a slope close to the centre, its paths and courtyards forming a quiet, leafy pattern on the map.
