Its name, meaning Fourth Mile, comes from the old custom of naming settlements after milestones along a road, and the map reflects that origin. Houses and small lanes gather along a main route rather than around a single square.
From above the settlement looks linear. A central road carries most of the activity, with short side lanes and small housing clusters branching off to either side.
