Roadside villages
Homes are strung along the roads in long lines, so the villages on the map look like threads laid across the open land rather than compact blocks.

La mappa
Kandoeng Map Poster & Print
Kandoeng is a community in Takeo Province in southern Cambodia. The region south of Phnom Penh is low and flat, shaped by rice cultivation and seasonal water. Settlement here is largely rural, and the place is better understood as a group of villages and farmland than as a compact town with a defined centre.
From above, the landscape is dominated by paddy fields separated by earth banks and crossed by roads and waterways. Houses tend to line the roads in long strips, often shaded by trees and palms, so villages appear as thin bands of settlement rather than clusters. Ponds dot the fields, and during the wet season much of the low land holds water.
A Kandoeng map poster captures this spare, linear pattern: long roads, narrow ribbons of houses and wide open ground between them. The composition is calm and minimal. It makes a personal keepsake for Cambodians with family in Takeo, including those in Phnom Penh or overseas who want a reminder of the countryside.

Paddy field pattern
Rice fields divided by embankments and channels give the land a subtle, repeated order. It shows in the lines of roads and waterways around the community.
Seasonal water
Ponds, channels and low-lying fields hold water for much of the year. They add soft shapes that break up the otherwise even surface of the plain.
