Open-pit outline
The mine's stepped walls and ramps form tight, repeating contours, one of the most distinctive shapes on the map and quite unlike ordinary city streets.

La mappa
Kansanshi Map Poster & Print
Kansanshi lies in Zambia's North-Western Province, close to the provincial capital Solwezi, and its name is known mostly for the copper and gold mine next to it. From above, this is a working landscape. Haul roads, processing areas and the stepped outline of an open pit sit beside residential streets, with miombo woodland stretching out on every side.
The mine is one of the largest copper operations in Africa, and it has drawn people and services into the area over the past two decades. On a map the growth shows as clusters of housing and straight access roads cut into the bush. It is a planned, practical place, with lines that come from engineering more than from centuries of slow building.
That gives a Kansanshi map poster an unusual look. The mine's geometry, all terraces and ramps, sits next to the looser grid of the settlements, and the woodland leaves wide blank margins around both. For people who have lived or worked here, often far from home, the print records a place defined by effort and shared routine.

Haul and access roads
Wide, direct roads link the pit, the plant and the settlements. On the poster they cut clean diagonals across the surrounding woodland.
Proximity to Solwezi
The provincial capital is nearby, and the roads between them tie the mining area into a wider regional network that shows at larger map scales.

Perché Kansanshi
Una mappa che ha un significato
Many people pass through Kansanshi on contracts or rotations, and a map of the site can mean a lot afterwards. It marks a stretch of working life in a form that looks at home on an office wall as well as in a living room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the years you spent there or the name of your team, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the engineered lines especially well.
