La mappa
Karşıyaka Map Poster & Print
Karşıyaka lies on the northern side of the Gulf of İzmir, and its name, meaning the opposite shore, describes its position exactly. On a map the district stretches along the waterfront, with a promenade and coastal road following the curve of the bay and neighbourhoods rising inland toward the hills. Across the water, the centre of İzmir faces it directly.
Ferries link Karşıyaka's piers with Konak and other points around the gulf, and the İZBAN suburban railway and a tram line run through the district, giving it strong connections without a bridge. The market area near the main pier is a dense grid of shopping streets, while further inland the blocks become larger and more residential.
A Karşıyaka map poster is shaped by the gulf. The water fills a large part of the frame, and the shoreline becomes the defining line of the design, with the streets arranged behind it in layers climbing away from the sea. It suits residents who know the promenade by heart, and anyone who has crossed the bay by ferry in the evening.

Ferry piers
Piers along the shore mark the points where ferries cross to Konak and other districts, small projections into the water that anchor the map.
Çarşı grid
Near the main pier, the market area forms a compact grid of pedestrian and shopping streets, denser than the residential blocks further inland.

Perché Karşıyaka
Una mappa che ha un significato
Karşıyaka inspires strong loyalty; many people describe themselves as being from Karşıyaka first and İzmir second. A map poster of the shore and its streets is a natural way to express that attachment at home.
Set a title, subtitle and coordinates line of your choice, perhaps a street name and a year. Choose between Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files cost $9 and include sizes up to 24×36″, or order a ready printed poster.
