La mappa
Kastamonu Map Poster & Print
Kastamonu lies inland in Turkey's western Black Sea region, in a valley surrounded by wooded hills. From above, the town stretches along the Karaçomak stream, which runs through the middle. The old quarter clusters below a steep rock topped by a castle. Newer districts spread along the valley floor, and the roads leading out follow the curves of the hills.
The town is known for its Ottoman-era mosques, wooden houses and old covered markets, many of which survive in the historic centre. In 1925, Atatürk chose Kastamonu to announce his hat reform, part of a wider series of changes in dress, and the event is still remembered locally. The castle dates back to the Byzantine and Çobanoğulları periods.
A Kastamonu map poster shows a town shaped by its valley. The stream runs along the centre, the castle hill makes a compact, irregular shape, and the old lanes gather beneath it. Wider roads run along the valley. It is a finely detailed map with a clear structure, well suited to a portrait format.

Karaçomak stream
The stream runs through the centre of the town along the valley floor. Streets follow its course, and bridges cross it at short intervals.
Historic quarter
Below the castle, a dense tangle of old streets holds mosques, markets and wooden houses. On the poster it forms the most detailed area.
