Fine street mesh
Small blocks and narrow lanes create a dense, detailed pattern across the area, the kind of texture that looks especially striking in black and white at larger print sizes.

La mappa
Kima Kieza Map Poster & Print
Kima Kieza is part of the urban area of Luanda, the capital of Angola, lying inland to the east of the city's historic centre and bay. From above, it belongs to the wide belt of neighbourhoods that grew rapidly around the capital in recent decades, where the street pattern is dense and fine-grained, with small plots, narrow lanes and a few wider roads carrying most of the traffic.
Much of Luanda's growth outside the old centre happened quickly and without a single overall plan, and that history is visible on the map. Some areas follow a rough grid, others curve and branch where streets were laid out plot by plot. The effect is a rich, irregular texture that looks very different from the straight avenues of the colonial-era downtown.
Luanda sits on the Atlantic coast, and its bay and the long sandy spit of the Ilha close off the western side of the wider city. A Kima Kieza map poster focuses on the neighbourhood itself, a close-up portrait of one part of a very large capital, the kind of place that rarely appears on printed maps but is home to a great many people.

Main roads
A few wider roads cross the neighbourhood and connect it with the rest of Luanda, giving the busy local pattern a clear structure and a sense of direction.
Inland from the bay
The area lies east of Luanda's historic centre and its Atlantic bay, part of the belt of districts that has carried much of the capital's recent growth.
