Else meets Werre
The confluence of the Else and the Werre is the natural centre of the map, two meandering lines joining in an open valley kept mostly free of buildings.

La mappa
Kirchlengern Map Poster & Print
Kirchlengern sits in the Herford district of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the gently rolling Ravensberg Land between the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest. The municipality is not one compact centre but several villages that have grown together along roads and river valleys, producing a map that is spread out and quite green.
The defining feature is water: here the Else runs into the Werre, and both leave winding lines through meadows that stay largely unbuilt. Roads and the railway follow the valley floors, so the settlement forms bands along the rivers with fields and small woods on the higher ground between them.
A Kirchlengern map poster shows that interplay clearly. The curving rivers bring movement to the drawing, while the straighter lines of roads and rail keep it steady. It is a good example of how a place without a single historic core can still make a balanced, readable composition.

Linked villages
Several former villages now form one municipality, and from above they appear as clusters of streets joined by roads across farmland.
Valley corridors
Roads and the railway run along the flat valley floors beside the rivers, so transport lines and water trace parallel paths across the poster.

Perché Kirchlengern
Una mappa che ha un significato
The map suits anyone who knows the area from daily life, the walk along the river, the drive between villages, the house on a quiet lane. The rivers give it enough shape to work as a picture, not just a diagram.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, perhaps a family name or the year you moved in, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the files or order a framed print.
