Lāhījān lake
The large lake near the centre gives the map a strong rounded shape, a calm open space framed by the surrounding streets and the path along its shore.

La mappa
Lāhījān Map Poster & Print
Lāhījān lies in Gilan Province, where the forested northern slopes of the Alborz meet the flat, green plain that runs down to the Caspian Sea. The map shows a compact centre on level ground, with a wooded hill rising at its southern edge and tea gardens spreading across the slopes beyond. To the north, rice fields and villages fill the lowland.
The town is known as the home of Iranian tea. In the early twentieth century Kashef ol-Saltaneh brought tea plants from India and established cultivation here, and his tomb stands beside the town's tea museum. Lāhījān is also known for the large lake at the foot of Sheytan Kuh, whose shoreline is one of the town's favourite places to walk.
A Lāhījān map poster shows how neatly the town fits its site. The rounded lake, the dense centre and the green bulk of the hill sit side by side, and the roads thin out as they climb into the tea terraces. It is a small composition with a clear focal point, and it holds up well at every print size.

Sheytan Kuh slopes
The wooded hill rising at the town's edge leaves a broad area of empty space on the map, crossed by only a few winding roads.
Tea garden terraces
On the foothills, lanes and paths weave through the tea plantations, fine curving lines that follow the contours rather than any grid.
