Regular town grid
Lingquan's streets are set out in a mostly rectilinear pattern, giving the map a neat, geometric core that reads clearly even at small print sizes.

La mappa
Lingquan Map Poster & Print
Lingquan is a town in the far north-east of Inner Mongolia, in the Hulunbuir region, not far from China's borders with Russia and Mongolia. From above it looks like a compact, fairly regular block of streets set in open country, with very little around it except roads, rail lines and grassland.
This is one of the most northerly parts of China, a landscape of steppe, long winters and big skies. Settlements here tend to be spaced far apart and laid out efficiently, and Lingquan follows that pattern: a clear grid, straight roads and a sharp boundary where town gives way to open land.
A Lingquan map poster makes the most of that contrast. The town sits like a small, orderly shape in a large empty field, and the roads leaving it stretch out in long straight lines. It's a minimalist subject by nature, which suits the monochrome style of the poster.

Long straight roads
The routes leaving town run a long way across the flat terrain, and on the poster they become strong lines reaching toward the edges of the frame.
Steppe surroundings
Grassland surrounds the town in every direction. In black and white it becomes open space, which highlights just how compact the settlement is.
