Valley floor
The town lies along the bottom of the valley, so its streets form a narrow band that follows the river and gives the poster a strong sense of direction.

La mappa
Lixian Map Poster & Print
Lixian, the seat of Li County in the Longnan area of southeastern Gansu, lies in the valley of the Xihan River, where the loess country gives way to the mountains of the Qinling system. The town follows the valley floor. Its main roads run beside the water, and a compact core of blocks gathers wherever the valley widens.
Archaeologists know the county as one of the early homelands of the Qin, the state that later unified China. Excavated sites and elite tombs in the surrounding hills are linked to early Qin rulers, dating from centuries before the state moved east and rose to power. Today that deep history sits beside an ordinary, practical town plan.
A Lixian map poster takes its character from the terrain. The river and its roads form a narrow band, side valleys branch off as thin lines, and the surrounding slopes leave broad quiet areas across the print. The result feels closer to a landscape drawing than a city plan, and it suits anyone who knows this corner of Gansu.

Early Qin landscape
The hills around the county hold sites linked to the early Qin state, a sign that this quiet valley stood at the start of a major chapter in Chinese history.
Side valleys
Smaller valleys branch off the main one, each carrying a thin road and a few hamlets, adding fine lines that fan out from the town.

Perché Lixian
Una mappa che ha un significato
Lixian is home for people from Longnan. For anyone interested in early Chinese history, it is a landscape few outsiders visit. Either way, a map of the valley makes an unusual and personal piece for the wall.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with Li County or Longnan, and adjust the coordinates line. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand each treat the empty hillsides differently, from stark contrast to a warm, soft tone.
