La mappa
Lormont Map Poster & Print
Lormont sits on the right bank of the Garonne, just downstream from central Bordeaux. From above, the town is shaped by its hills. The old village and its streets cling to the slope above the river, larger residential districts spread across the plateau behind, and the curve of the Garonne defines the entire western edge.
The Pont d'Aquitaine, the large suspension bridge that carries the Bordeaux ring road across the river, lands in Lormont. It is one of the most recognisable structures in the metropolitan area. The town also has a medieval castle once linked to the archbishops of Bordeaux, and wooded parks along the hillside.
A Lormont map poster combines river, bridge and hillside in a single frame. The wide Garonne fills one side, the bridge crosses it in a single span, and the streets above follow the contours in winding lines. It is one of the most dramatic compositions around Bordeaux, with a clear sense of relief.

Garonne riverfront
The broad river forms the town's western edge, and the old quays and village streets sit close to the water below the slope.
Hillside streets
Roads climb and wind up the wooded coteaux above the river. Their curves stand out against the more regular estates on the plateau.
