Mohokare border
The river winds along the western edge of the city and doubles as the international boundary. It frames the map with a single, uninterrupted curve.

La mappa
Maseru Map Poster & Print
Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, lies on the Mohokare, known in South Africa as the Caledon River. The river forms the national border here, so on the map the city stops abruptly at a winding line of water, with South Africa on the far bank. From that edge, Maseru spreads east and south across the lowlands in a loose pattern of roads and neighbourhoods.
The town began in 1869 as a small police camp during the British protectorate. Its original centre is still compact, with a main commercial street and government buildings close to the river. The Maseru Bridge border post is one of the busiest crossings between the two countries. To the east, the land rises toward the Maluti foothills, and the historic mountain stronghold of Thaba Bosiu lies not far away.
A Maseru map poster presents a capital at a modest scale. It has no dense grid and no ring road. Instead, it shows a centre near the border that thins into suburbs and villages. The river's meanders give the western side of the print its most elegant line, and the rising ground to the east shows in the way the roads bend and branch.

Colonial centre
The oldest streets sit close to the river crossing. There, a compact commercial and government district forms the densest cluster of blocks in the capital.
Eastern spread
Toward the foothills, roads fan out across the lowland ridges. The neighbourhoods become looser and more scattered the farther they get from the centre.

Perché Maseru
Una mappa che ha un significato
Maseru is home to Basotho families across the region and to many who have lived or worked in Lesotho for a time. The map shows the border city they remember, drawn precisely.
Add a name, a year or a meaningful place to the title, subtitle and coordinates line. The print comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper gives a softer finish.
