Ring of motu
Long, narrow islets surround the lagoon on nearly every side, drawing a thin band of land that encloses the whole composition like a frame.

La mappa
Maupiti Map Poster & Print
Maupiti lies west of Bora Bora in the Leeward Islands of French Polynesia. At its centre is a small, steep volcanic island, and around that a wide, shallow lagoon enclosed by long, low motu and reef. From above the arrangement is almost diagrammatic: a dark core, a pale ring of water and a thin outer band of land, like a smaller, quieter version of its famous neighbour.
The lagoon opens to the ocean through a single narrow pass on the southern side, known for strong currents, which has helped keep large boats and large-scale tourism away. The island's village and its coastal road wrap around the shoreline of the main island, while the motu carry beaches and a few scattered homes. Manta rays are often seen in the lagoon.
A Maupiti map poster is one of the most graphic island designs available: concentric shapes, a single road loop and a scatter of paths. It works on any wall where a centred, balanced composition is wanted, and it is often chosen by people who stayed in a small guesthouse there, or who sailed through the pass and remember it.

Onoiau Pass
The lagoon's only opening, a slim channel through the reef to the south, is the single break in the outer ring and a well-known challenge for sailors.
Coastal road loop
A road circles the central island along the shore, the main line of the map and the axis around which the village is spread.

Perché Maupiti
Una mappa che ha un significato
Maupiti is often chosen as a honeymoon or anniversary map, or by sailors who crossed its pass. Its concentric shape sits beautifully at the centre of a frame and reads clearly even at the smaller print sizes.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with names and a date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand; Sand and Paper give the lagoon a warm, beach-like softness, while Noir makes the ring of motu stand out.
