La mappa
Maymana Map Poster & Print
Maymana is the capital of Faryab Province in northwestern Afghanistan, not far from the border with Turkmenistan. The city sits in the valley of the Maymana River, where it flows north out of the foothills of the Band-e Turkestan range, and on the map the streets and fields gather along the valley floor, with drier, hilly ground on either side.
The city has a long history as a regional centre and was once the seat of a small Uzbek khanate that held power in the area until the late nineteenth century. Its street plan combines a dense older centre with wider roads laid out later, and main routes lead out toward the other towns of the northwest.
Much of the population is Uzbek, alongside Tajik, Turkmen and Pashtun communities, and the region is known for its carpets. A Maymana map poster keeps the focus on the valley, the river and the pattern of streets, offering a calm, respectful portrait of a city many people remember from afar.

Old centre
Closely packed streets mark the historic core, once the seat of a regional khanate, standing out against the more open outer districts.
Foothill setting
The Band-e Turkestan foothills rise to the south, their empty slopes framing the city and giving the design a strong sense of place.

Perché Maymana
Una mappa che ha un significato
For Afghans from Faryab living elsewhere in the country or abroad, a map of Maymana is a way to keep home close. It is quiet and respectful, focused only on streets, river and valley, and makes a thoughtful gift for family.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be edited, so you can add a family name, a date or a few words of your own. Choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a digital file or a print.
