Sea and lake
The settlement sits between the open sea and a backwater lake. On the map this gives it two very different edges: one straight, one intricate.

La mappa
Mayyanād Map Poster & Print
Mayyanād lies in Kollam district on the southern coast of Kerala. The settlement stretches over a narrow band of land between the Arabian Sea and the backwaters inland. On the map, it looks less like a compact town and more like a long, green belt. Lanes and houses spread out among coconut groves rather than clustering around one centre.
The coastal railway runs through the area, drawing a steady line parallel to the shore. Water is everywhere: the straight beach on one side, the irregular edges of the backwater on the other, and small canals and ponds in between. This kind of landscape is typical of Kerala's coast, and it gives the map a soft, layered appearance.
A Mayyanād map poster shows how closely life here is tied to water. The sea, the lake and the thin strip of settlement are all visible at once. In black and white, the long coastline and the looser lines of the backwaters frame the network of village roads, producing a calm and distinctive image.

Perché Mayyanād
Una mappa che ha un significato
Many people from Mayyanād live and work far away, in other Indian cities or abroad. A map of home, with the sea and the backwater on either side, is a meaningful thing to have on the wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a line in Malayalam. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits all the water.
