Contour-following streets
Main roads bend around each hill in wide loops, so the street network doubles as a relief map of the ridges the city was built on.

La mappa
Modiin Ilit Map Poster & Print
Modiin Ilit is a planned city built from the 1990s onward on hills just east of Modiin. Because it follows the terrain, its map is made of looping roads that trace the contours of each ridge, with dense rows of apartment blocks stepping along them. Separate neighbourhoods sit on separate hilltops, divided by valleys that remain largely open.
The city has a predominantly ultra-Orthodox population and is known for its young residents and large families, which has made it one of the faster-growing localities in the region. It lies across the Green Line in the West Bank, a short distance from Modiin and the central coastal plain.
A Modiin Ilit map poster is essentially a drawing of topography through streets. Without contour lines, the curves of the roads still show where the ground rises and falls, and the empty valleys between neighbourhoods give the composition space to breathe. It is a very different pattern from the grid of a flatter city.

Hilltop neighbourhoods
Each district occupies its own rise, forming distinct clusters of streets that the map shows as separate islands linked by a few connecting roads.
Open valleys
Between the built-up ridges the slopes and wadis stay largely undeveloped, leaving pale gaps that separate the neighbourhoods and frame them clearly.

Perché Modiin Ilit
Una mappa che ha un significato
For residents and their families the map is a record of a place that has grown quickly within living memory, often with a particular street or first apartment in it. The curving plan also makes an unusual, graphic print on its own.
Add a name, a date or a short line to the title and subtitle, and select one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the layout before you order.
