La mappa

Muktāgācha Map Poster & Print

Muktāgācha is a town in the Mymensingh Division of northern Bangladesh, a short distance west of Mymensingh city. It was once the seat of a wealthy zamindar family, and the remains of their palace complex, the Rajbari, are still one of its best-known sights. The town is also known across Bangladesh for its monda, a traditional sweet.

On the map, Muktāgācha is low and watery. The land is almost completely flat, and rectangular ponds are scattered through the town and the villages around it. Narrow lanes wind between houses and gardens. Near the centre, the old palace grounds form a larger, more formal space. Rice fields surround the town, separated by thin raised field edges.

A Muktāgācha map poster brings together its old estate, its dense lanes and the geometric shapes of its ponds. The combination makes a detailed, balanced print. It's a meaningful piece for families from the town and anyone who remembers visiting for a box of monda.

Rajbari grounds

The former zamindar palace complex is a larger, more formal space near the centre, set apart from the fine grain of the surrounding lanes.

02

Rectangular ponds

Ponds are scattered through the town and nearby villages. In monochrome they show as clean, open shapes among the streets and fields.

03

Paddy plain

Flat rice fields surround the town, divided into small plots. They give the edges of the print a soft, even texture.
