La mappa
Niquelândia Map Poster & Print
Niquelândia is in northern Goiás, and its name comes from the nickel deposits that have been mined in the area. The town is a fairly compact set of streets on the central plateau. It is one of the municipalities along the Serra da Mesa reservoir, a very large man-made lake formed by damming the Tocantins River.
On a map, the town and the water look very different. The streets form a tight, mostly orthogonal core. The reservoir spreads through the surrounding valleys in narrow, fingered inlets, following the old river courses before the land flooded. A wider frame picks up both, and the lake's irregular outline gives the composition its structure.
A Niquelândia map poster can be framed closely on the town grid or pulled back to show the reservoir's shoreline. Both work in monochrome. The close view is quiet and regular, while the wider view is dominated by the branching outline of the flooded valleys, one of the most distinctive shapes in this part of Brazil.

A name from nickel
The town is named for the nickel found beneath the surrounding land, which ties Niquelândia's identity to the geology beneath its streets.
Compact plateau centre
The urban core is a small, orderly block pattern, and it reads as a dense patch set against the open country and water around it.

Perché Niquelândia
Una mappa che ha un significato
The poster connects a mining town with a large lake that reshaped the landscape around it. It suits someone from Niquelândia, someone who has worked in the region, or anyone who likes maps where water drawn to scale takes up much of the sheet.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, and you can pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Paper show the reservoir's edges especially well. You can buy HD digital files or a printed poster.
