Southern canals
Along the southern edge, dead-end canals and inlets cut into the residential blocks, giving the map a comb-like fringe where streets and water alternate.

La mappa
Oceanside Map Poster & Print
Oceanside is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead, on the South Shore of Long Island in Nassau County. Despite its name, it does not front the Atlantic directly: from above, its southern edge breaks up into canals, narrow inlets and salt marsh that lead toward the bays behind Long Beach and Island Park. The ocean is close, but the water here is mostly quiet and tidal.
North of the waterline, the map settles into a familiar suburban pattern of residential blocks, curving side streets and a few main roads running through. The Long Island Rail Road's Long Beach Branch crosses the area, and small parks and school grounds open up clearings in the grid. It is a place where the transition from land to water happens gradually.
An Oceanside map poster makes that transition the centrepiece. The fine texture of house-lined streets gives way to fingers of water and marsh, drawn as clean shapes in black and white. For anyone who knows the neighbourhood, the pattern of canals at the south end is the detail that makes the map unmistakably theirs.

Tidal marshland
Beyond the canals, open salt marsh and channels stretch toward the barrier island, forming a soft, irregular area that contrasts with the tidy streets to the north.
Rail through town
The Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road runs through Oceanside, a straight line that cuts across the curving suburban street pattern.

Perché Oceanside
Una mappa che ha un significato
An Oceanside map is a natural choice for a family home, a first house near the water or a childhood address on Long Island. The canals and marsh make it more personal than a generic suburban plan.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a street name or a move-in date, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a print shipped from a nearby partner.
