The reservoir reaches into the foothills in long, irregular branches. Its shoreline is one of the most intricate outlines you can put on a map poster.

La mappa
Oroville Map Poster & Print
Oroville sits where the Feather River comes out of the Sierra Nevada foothills onto the floor of the Sacramento Valley. The river bends through the city, and upstream Lake Oroville spreads into long, branching arms that fill the old canyons. On a map the reservoir's outline is intricate, a collection of fingers and inlets that stands out against the regular streets of the town.
The Oroville Dam, which holds back the lake, is the tallest dam in the United States, and its broad embankment shows clearly across the river's former course. In 2017, damage to its spillways led to a large evacuation downstream. The town itself grew during the Gold Rush, and its historic downtown lies close to the river.
An Oroville map poster puts water at the centre: the Feather River, the diversion channels and the reservoir. Most of the frame is water or hillside rather than streets, and in black and white it has an unusual, almost abstract look.

Oroville Dam
The tallest dam in the United States forms a broad barrier across the Feather River canyon, and its engineered shape is clear at poster scale.
Feather River bend
Below the dam, the river curves past the historic downtown and out onto the valley floor, with the town's streets arranged along its banks.

Perché Oroville
Una mappa che ha un significato
Oroville suits people who fish, boat or hike around the lake, families who have lived here for generations, and anyone who remembers 2017. The shape of the water is unmistakable, even without labels.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line of your choice, then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the dam's engineering, and Sand brings out the dry foothills.
