Pākdasht lies on the plain south-east of Tehran, at the edge of the capital's metropolitan area. From above, it is a spreading town whose streets extend over flat, open ground, with farmland mixed in among the newer residential districts. Main roads link it to Tehran and to the agricultural towns of the Varamin plain.
The town has grown quickly in recent decades as people moved to the outskirts of Tehran, and its layout shows that growth: an older centre surrounded by newer blocks laid out in straighter lines. To the north, the land begins to rise toward the foothills of the Alborz range, which gives the plain a clear edge.
