Panay is a large, roughly triangular island in the Western Visayas of the Philippines, divided among the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz and Iloilo. A mountain range runs down its western side, close to the coast of Antique, and to the east of it the land spreads into wide river plains of rice fields, towns and roads that fan out across the interior.
Iloilo City, on the south-east coast, is the largest city, set on the Iloilo River across a narrow strait from the island of Guimaras. Its old districts keep a number of heritage buildings from the Spanish and American periods. Roxas City in Capiz lies on the northern coast, and off the north-western tip the small island of Boracay draws visitors from around the world.
The church of Miagao on the southern coast is one of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines listed by UNESCO, and Kalibo in Aklan is home to the Ati-Atihan festival.
