La mappa
Piatã Map Poster & Print
Piatã is in the Chapada Diamantina, the upland region of central Bahia known for its tabletop mountains and deep valleys. The town sits at a high elevation and is often cited as one of the highest towns in Brazil's Northeast, which gives it a cooler climate than most of the state. On a map it is a small, compact cluster of streets in wide, open terrain.
The town's centre is a modest grid, and the few roads leading out of it curve along the contours of the surrounding hills. In recent years the Piatã area has gained a reputation for specialty coffee grown at altitude, and farms spread across the slopes and plateaus outside town.
A Piatã map poster is a quiet composition: a small town surrounded by broad landscape. The streets form a neat centre, and the winding rural roads and open land give the frame room to breathe. It suits anyone drawn to the highlands of Bahia, or to the coffee that comes from them, as a reminder of a place well off the usual routes.

Winding rural roads
The roads leaving town follow the hills rather than running straight. On the map they curve through the empty upland in loose, organic lines.
Coffee country
Farms around the town grow coffee at altitude, and the rural land in the outer frame is part of that landscape of slopes, plateaus and small holdings.
