The Bistrița reservoirs
Along the southern side of town, the Bistrița is held back by dams into calm, wide stretches of water, including Bâtca Doamnei lake, which appear as smooth pale shapes against the streets.

La mappa
Piatra Neamţ Map Poster & Print
Piatra Neamţ sits in a basin on the eastern side of the Carpathians, and on a map the hills are what you notice first. Streets fill the valley floor and climb only partway up the slopes before giving way to forest. The Bistrița River runs along the town's southern edge, widening where dams hold back its water, and the built area follows the valley in a long, uneven shape.
The town is ringed by named peaks, among them Cozla, Cernegura, Pietricica and Cârloman, and a cable car climbs from the centre to Cozla. In the old centre stands the princely court of Stephen the Great, with its stone bell tower from the late fifteenth century, one of the best known medieval landmarks in Moldavia.
A Piatra Neamţ map poster turns this setting into a clear composition. The dense streets of the centre sit in the middle of the frame, the river and its reservoir sweep along one side, and the empty spaces of the hills press in around the edges. It is a map where the land shapes the town as much as the town fills the land.

Ring of hills
Forested peaks surround the basin on almost every side, so the street network stops abruptly at their slopes, leaving clean open margins that frame the town on the poster.
The princely court
The old centre around Stephen the Great's court and tower forms a compact cluster of short streets, older in plan than the housing blocks that spread across the valley later.
