Louro river valley
The Louro crosses the flat valley floor as a thin line of green between fields, roads and warehouses, then continues south toward its meeting with the Miño.

La mappa
Porriño Map Poster & Print
Porriño, officially O Porriño, lies in the valley of the river Louro, a short distance inland from Vigo in the south of Galicia. From above, the town is a dense core of short streets and small squares. Newer blocks surround it, and beyond them the large rectangles of industrial estates fill the flat valley floor between wooded hills.
The name is known well beyond the town. Porriño gives its name to a pink granite quarried in the surrounding hills and shipped widely as building and paving stone. On a map the quarries show as pale, stepped scars on the slopes, a sign that this landscape has been worked for generations. The architect Antonio Palacios, known for landmark buildings in Madrid, was born here.
A Porriño map poster captures the mix of old and new: the close weave of the historic centre, the curving line of the Louro, and the rail line and motorways running through the valley toward Vigo and Portugal. Pilgrims on the Portuguese Way of Saint James also pass through, on a route that crosses the town from south to north.

Quarried hillsides
Granite quarries cut into the surrounding slopes appear as pale, terraced shapes. They look nothing like the organic street pattern below or the wooded ridges around them.
Historic centre
A compact web of short streets and small plazas forms the old core, where the town hall designed by Antonio Palacios stands among modest stone buildings.

Perché Porriño
Una mappa che ha un significato
For people from Porriño, or anyone who has walked the Camino through the valley, the map is a quiet record of one specific place: the river, the hills and the streets between them. It suits a hallway or a study, where a clean line drawing holds attention without competing with the room.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name or a date that matters. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, and printed, framed versions ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
