La mappa
Presidente Dutra Map Poster & Print
Presidente Dutra is in the interior of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil, a long way from the Atlantic coast and the state capital. On the map, the town is a compact grid of blocks around its central streets, with new neighbourhoods added at the edges as it has grown. Highways run in and out of town, and beyond them the streets quickly give way to fields and pasture.
The town takes its name from Eurico Gaspar Dutra, who was president of Brazil in the late 1940s. It works as a local service centre for the surrounding rural area, with trade, schools and health facilities serving the smaller communities nearby. Its layout follows a familiar pattern for the region, with a planned centre and a looser fringe.
A Presidente Dutra map poster has a clean, balanced shape. The town's rectangular blocks form a clear central mass, and the roads that stretch outwards give the composition direction and movement. Around it, open land leaves plenty of white space, so the drawing reads as a small, orderly grid in the middle of the Maranhão countryside.

Highway approaches
Main roads leave the town in several directions, connecting it to the wider interior of Maranhão and drawing long lines across the frame.
Expanding edges
Newer neighbourhoods at the fringes add looser, less regular streets where the town meets the surrounding farmland.
