La mappa
Pu'er Map Poster & Print
Pu'er is a prefecture-level city in southern Yunnan, and its urban centre, the district of Simao, occupies a basin enclosed by forested hills. On a map the built-up area is compact, with a mostly regular street network on the flat valley floor that stops where the slopes begin, and winding roads climbing out through the ridges in several directions.
The city was called Simao until 2007, when it adopted the name Pu'er, long attached to the fermented tea traded through the region for centuries. Tea plantations cover many surrounding hillsides, and old caravan routes once carried tea from southern Yunnan toward Tibet and beyond along the network known as the Tea Horse Road.
The subtropical landscape around the city is green and steep, with lakes and reservoirs tucked into the valleys. A Pu'er map poster frames that clear contrast between the orderly town in the basin and the looser tangle of roads and paths winding through the surrounding hills toward the tea villages.

Winding hill roads
Outside the basin, roads twist along ridges and valleys toward surrounding towns and plantations, adding loose, looping lines around the denser centre.
Lakes and reservoirs
Small bodies of water sit at the fringes of the city, including Meizi Lake near the urban edge, appearing as soft, irregular shapes against the street network.

Perché Pu'er
Una mappa che ha un significato
Tea lovers are often drawn to Pu'er for its name alone, and a map of the actual place gives that connection a concrete form. The basin shape, framed by hills, makes a balanced and quiet image well suited to a kitchen, study or tea corner.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, choose one of five styles including Paper and Sand, and download 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files for $9. Printed posters on matte paper ship from partners in over thirty countries.
