Contour streets
Roads wrap around the hillsides in long curves, stacked one above another, so the map reads almost like a contour drawing of the slope itself.

La mappa
Qiryat HaYovel Map Poster & Print
Qiryat HaYovel is a neighbourhood in the southwest of Jerusalem, built on hills that drop into the valleys toward Ein Kerem. Its name refers to the jubilee of the Jewish National Fund. Most of the neighbourhood was built in the 1950s and 1960s to house new immigrants, and long apartment blocks still line its ridges and slopes.
On a map, Jerusalem's hills are unusually easy to read here. Streets curve along the slopes at a steady height rather than climbing them, forming stacked bands of housing one above another, with stairs and paths linking the levels. Mount Herzl and the national memorial sites lie close by. Below, the valley opens into green space and terraced hillsides where the streets stop.
A Qiryat HaYovel map poster shows a Jerusalem that visitors rarely see: residential, hilly and shaped by decades of everyday life. The layered lines of streets over slopes make a strong graphic layout. This is clearest in the larger print sizes, where the paths between buildings become visible and the edge of the valley is easier to read.

Valley edge
To the west the built-up area stops at a steep drop into open, wooded valley land. The boundary between dense streets and blank space is sharp.
Stairs and paths
Stairways and footpaths cut between the apartment blocks where cars cannot go. They add short straight lines across the curving streets.
