La mappa
Ramagundam Map Poster & Print
Ramagundam lies on the southern bank of the Godavari in northern Telangana. Its layout comes from its industry rather than an old market centre. Large power stations, coal mining areas and a fertiliser plant take up much of the land. Planned townships for their workers form separate clusters of streets connected by main roads.
The town is home to one of NTPC's large coal-fired super thermal power stations, which relies on coal from the mines of the Singareni Collieries nearby. The river supplies water to the plants, and the railway line through the town carries both coal and passengers. Together they make Ramagundam an important energy centre for southern India.
A Ramagundam map poster shows a patchwork of different spaces. Neat, regular township grids sit beside large industrial sites, reservoirs and open mining land, all bordered to the north by the Godavari. In black and white, the town looks less like a single centre and more like a collection of distinct settlements.

Township grids
Planned residential colonies for plant and mine workers appear as tidy clusters of regular streets. They are distinct from the surrounding land.
Industrial sites
The power station, fertiliser works and mining areas occupy large open spaces between the neighbourhoods. They define the town's scattered shape.
