Mississippi bend
The river loops around downtown and the West Side in a wide curve, crossed by several bridges. Its bluffs and floodplain give the southern half of the map a strong sense of movement.

La mappa
Saint Paul Map Poster & Print
Saint Paul, the capital of Minnesota, was built where the Mississippi River swings sharply east and then south, and the river traces the city's outline on several sides. Downtown sits on a terrace above the water, its streets set at an angle to the river rather than to the compass, while the neighbourhoods further west and north settle into the more regular grid of the Midwest.
Summit Avenue, lined with large Victorian houses, runs along the top of the bluff from the Cathedral of Saint Paul toward the river gorge on the western side, drawing a long, clean line across the map. The State Capitol, designed by Cass Gilbert, anchors a formal mall north of downtown, and Como Park, with its lake, forms a broad green shape further out.
Saint Paul shares its metropolitan area with Minneapolis, just to the west, and the two are known together as the Twin Cities. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born here and lived on Summit Avenue for a time. A Saint Paul map poster shows the bluffs, bridges and lakes that give the older of the two cities its distinct shape.

Summit Avenue
This long residential boulevard follows the edge of the bluff for several miles, a single straight line that stands out clearly against the surrounding grid of smaller streets.
Lakes and parks
Como Lake and Lake Phalen break up the northern neighbourhoods with rounded shapes and green edges, offering a gentle counterpoint to the regular blocks around them.

Perché Saint Paul
Una mappa che ha un significato
A Saint Paul print suits families who have lived in the city for generations, graduates of its colleges and anyone attached to a particular house on a particular street. The river bend gives the composition a natural anchor that works well in a living room or office.
You can put your own words in the title and subtitle, such as a neighbourhood, a wedding date or a family name, and adjust the coordinates. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
