Guiniguada ravine
One of Gran Canaria's major barrancos runs below the old centre, and its winding course pulls roads and houses into long curves that read clearly on the map.

La mappa
Santa Brígida Map Poster & Print
Santa Brígida lies inland on Gran Canaria, a short climb from the coast at Las Palmas, in the greener and wetter midlands of the island. Its roads do not follow a grid. They wind along ridges and dip into barrancos, the steep ravines that carry water from the central mountains toward the sea. Houses are scattered along these routes, which gives the municipality a loose, branching shape.
The historic centre gathers around its parish church above the Guiniguada ravine. From there the settlement spreads into areas such as Monte Lentiscal, long associated with vineyards and country villas. On a Santa Brígida map poster, the contrast between the curling roads and the dark folds of the terrain gives the design depth without needing any colour.
Nearby, the Caldera de Bandama, an almost perfectly round volcanic crater, is one of the island's best-known viewpoints, and the surrounding ground is dotted with the smallholdings typical of the Canarian midlands. A map of this area is as much about landform as about streets, because ridges, ravines and craters all leave their mark on how the town is drawn.

Ridge-top roads
The main routes keep to the crests between ravines, so the street pattern branches like a tree instead of forming blocks, a distinctive trait of Canarian hill towns.
Bandama nearby
The Caldera de Bandama, a deep circular volcanic crater, lies close by and adds a striking round form when the map frame is set wide enough.
