Satipo River
The river runs beside the town and shapes its outline. On the map it is a strong curving line along the edge of the grid.

La mappa
Satipo Map Poster & Print
Satipo lies in the Junín region, in Peru's selva central, where the eastern Andes slope down into the Amazon basin. On the map, the town fills a valley floor beside the Satipo River. It has a fairly regular street grid, and steep, forested hills close in on either side.
The town is a trading centre for the surrounding area, which is known for coffee, cacao and fruit, and it sits in a region that is also home to Asháninka communities. Roads follow the valleys, because the terrain leaves them few other routes.
A Satipo map poster shows a town defined by its setting: a grid pressed into a valley, a river running along one edge, and dense green slopes rendered as open space. It is a clear record of where the mountains meet the rainforest.

Valley-floor grid
Streets are laid out in a fairly regular pattern on the flat ground of the valley, stopping where the slopes begin.
Forested hills
Steep, wooded hills surround the town. On a poster they leave broad quiet areas that frame the compact urban core.

Perché Satipo
Una mappa che ha un significato
