The Kura bend
The river is the strongest line on the sheet, a wide channel curving past the town and giving the flat composition its main movement and weight.

La mappa
Şirvan Map Poster & Print
Şirvan lies on the Kura, the largest river of the South Caucasus, in the low, open country of the Kura-Aras lowland. From above, the town is a tight block of streets and residential quarters set against a wide landscape. The river runs past in heavy loops, and beyond the last houses the map thins into irrigation channels, field boundaries and long straight roads.
Until 2008 the town was called Əli Bayramlı. For much of the twentieth century it grew around oil extraction and a large thermal power station, and that industrial edge still shows on the map as broad plots and service roads. The current name comes from the historic region of Shirvan, once ruled by the Shirvanshahs across much of what is now eastern Azerbaijan.
A Şirvan map poster works through contrast. The street pattern is dense and regular, while everything around it is spare: the curve of the Kura, the thin lines of canals, and the pale plain between them. The town looks small against its landscape, and the river does much of the visual work in black and white.

Compact street grid
Residential streets form a dense, regular block, typical of a town that grew quickly during the Soviet period around industry and administration.
Irrigated plain
Around the town, fine canal lines and field edges fill the lowland, forming a quiet pattern that frames the built-up area on every side.

Perché Şirvan
Una mappa che ha un significato
For people from Şirvan, or families who remember it as Əli Bayramlı, this map keeps a sense of home in its shape: the river, the familiar blocks, the open land beyond. It suits a hallway or a study where a quiet, graphic image fits better than a photograph.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, so the poster can carry either name, a family surname or a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster on matte paper.
