Sun Valley is an unincorporated community in Washoe County, Nevada, a few miles north of downtown Reno. It occupies a narrow valley between desert hills, and its shape on a map follows that terrain closely. A long band of residential streets runs roughly north to south, and the slopes on either side are left largely open.
The streets form a loose grid of residential blocks, many lined with manufactured homes and modest single-family houses, and the main road runs the length of the valley floor. Side streets climb a short way up the slopes before stopping, and dirt tracks continue into the hills. The contrast between the built-up valley floor and the empty ridges gives the map a clear, readable structure.
Sun Valley sits close enough to Reno to be tied to the city while keeping a separate identity, with the high desert visible from almost every street.
