La mappa
Svetlograd Map Poster & Print
Svetlograd lies in Stavropol Krai in southern Russia, on the Yegorlyk river. It began as the village of Petrovskoye and received its present name and town status in the mid-twentieth century. From above, it has the broad, regular layout typical of large southern Russian settlements, with long straight streets, wide blocks and gardens behind many houses, stretching along the river valley.
The river and its reservoirs form the main natural lines on the map, curving through a landscape of fields and gentle slopes. The town serves as the centre of the Petrovsky district, with roads leading out in several directions to villages and farms across the steppe. The contrast between the street grid and the flowing river is the defining feature of its shape.
A Svetlograd map poster shows a town laid out generously across the land, with the Yegorlyk winding along its edge. The regular streets create a calm, even texture, broken by the river and a few diagonal roads. It is a quiet, honest portrait of a steppe town that many people still call home.
