La mappa
Takenotsuka Map Poster & Print
Takenotsuka is a neighbourhood in Adachi Ward, at the northern edge of Tokyo's 23 wards and close to the boundary with Saitama Prefecture. It is centred on Takenotsuka Station on the Tobu Skytree Line, which runs north from central Tokyo and gives the area a direct link to Asakusa. Around the station, a compact shopping area gives way to housing.
The area lies on the flat, low ground of the eastern Tokyo lowlands, historically a landscape of rivers, canals and rice fields. From above, its streets form a fine, irregular mesh of narrow lanes and small blocks, typical of Tokyo's residential districts. Schools, parks and the long straight line of the railway break up the pattern.
A Takenotsuka map poster shows this everyday Tokyo texture in close detail: the dense residential grain, the station at its centre and the small green spaces scattered through it. It is not a map of monuments. It shows the kind of neighbourhood where most of the city's residents actually live, work and shop.

Fine lane mesh
Narrow residential lanes weave between small plots in an irregular pattern. They produce the intricate, almost fabric-like texture typical of Tokyo on a map.
Railway line
The Tobu Skytree Line cuts straight through the neighbourhood from north to south. It is a single strong stroke across the finely detailed street network.
