Delta canals
Irrigation channels of the Godavari system cross the countryside in long, deliberate lines. They are among the most distinctive features of the map and shape how the town has expanded.

La mappa
Tanuku Map Poster & Print
Tanuku lies in the western Godavari delta in Andhra Pradesh, one of the most intensively irrigated landscapes in India. From above, the town is surrounded by a patchwork of paddy fields cut by straight canals. The built-up area follows these waterways and the main roads rather than spreading out from a single central square.
The national highway between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry runs through the town, and a railway line crosses the delta nearby. Together they give the map two strong axes. A denser core of lanes, markets and temples has grown up around them, with residential streets filling the spaces in between.
Tanuku is also an industrial centre for the delta. Sugar production is among its long-established businesses, supplied by the cane and rice country around it. A Tanuku map poster shows how closely the town is tied to water, with canals framing its streets and fields reaching right up to the edge of town.

The highway axis
The main road between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry cuts through Tanuku. Shops and businesses cluster along it, and it forms a strong spine through the middle of the poster.
Where town meets field
The built-up area ends abruptly where the rice paddies begin. The contrast between dense lanes and open farmland is clear at every print size.
