La mappa
Taxkowrük Map Poster & Print
Taxkowrük lies in the Ili Valley in northwestern Xinjiang, close to the city of Yining. The valley is one of the greenest parts of the region, watered by the Ili river and by snowmelt from the surrounding Tian Shan ranges, and it supports farming, orchards and tree-lined roads.
From above, the settlement shows a mixture of village and suburban patterns. Straight roads divide the land into large blocks, with houses and courtyards clustered along them, while irrigation channels and fields fill the spaces between. Toward the river, the land opens into a flatter plain.
A Taxkowrük map poster presents this carefully cultivated landscape: roads, channels and field boundaries in regular lines, with settlement areas gathered along them. In black and white, the geometry of the irrigated valley becomes the main subject, calm and orderly on the page.
