Braided Karnali
Wide, interlacing river channels and sandbars run along the town. They produce the most expressive shapes on the map and change from season to season.

La mappa
Ṭikāpur Map Poster & Print
Ṭikāpur lies in Kailali district in Nepal's far west, on the flat Terai plain beside the Karnali River. On the map, the river is the dominant feature. It is broad and braided, with sandbars and shifting channels running along one side of the town. The streets form a fairly compact settlement, with farmland extending in every direction beyond them.
The Karnali is one of Nepal's great rivers. It comes down from the high Himalaya and spreads out across the lowlands here before crossing into India. Ṭikāpur grew as a market and service town for the surrounding farming communities. It is also known locally for its large public park, a green space that stands out in the town plan.
A Ṭikāpur map poster brings together two very different textures: the loose, braided pattern of the river and the more regular lines of streets and fields. In black and white, the channels and islands of the Karnali look almost like a drawing. The town sits beside them, neat and grounded. It is a striking print, and an unusual one.

Town streets
A compact network of roads forms the settlement next to the river. It contrasts with the looser water forms and gives the composition its focus.
Terai farmland
Flat fields cover the land around the town. Straight tracks and plot boundaries make a quiet background pattern across the lowland plain.

Perché Ṭikāpur
Una mappa che ha un significato
For people from Kailali or anyone who has stood on the banks of the Karnali, this map holds both the river and the town that grew beside it. The braided water makes it one of the more graphic prints you can hang.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed, in English or Nepali. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the river channels especially well.
