Open savanna setting
The land around Tullus is broad and flat. On the poster it stays largely empty, which gives the settlement at the centre a clear, almost diagrammatic presence.

La mappa
Tullus Map Poster
Tullus lies in South Darfur, in western Sudan, in a region of wide savanna where seasonal rains support grazing and farming. Little detailed information about the town is widely available, so it is better to let the map speak than to fill the gaps with guesswork. The map shows a place shaped by open land and by the routes that connect it to neighbouring towns.
Settlements in this part of Darfur often grow in a loose, low pattern of compounds, open spaces and tracks rather than a dense grid. On the map this appears as a scattered texture of lines around a central area. Roads and paths lead outward across the plain in several directions.
A Tullus map poster draws this pattern in fine black lines on a white ground. The empty space around the town is part of the image and conveys the scale of the surrounding landscape. For people with roots in Tullus, the poster is a way to hold on to a place that is far away or hard to return to.

Radiating tracks
Roads and tracks lead out from the town toward surrounding villages and towns. They form thin lines that stretch across the frame and tie the settlement to the wider region.
Loose street pattern
The built-up area is informal rather than gridded, with irregular lanes between compounds. Reduced to lines, this gives the map a hand-drawn quality unlike that of a planned city.
