Ube lies on the southern coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture, facing the Suo-nada section of the Seto Inland Sea. The city grew from coal mining, and industry still shapes its shoreline, with chemical and cement works occupying large reclaimed areas along the coast.
From above, the map shows a fairly regular grid of streets behind the industrial waterfront, with the land rising gently to the north. Yamaguchi Ube Airport sits right on the coast, its runway extending toward the sea and forming one of the most distinctive shapes on the map.
A Ube map poster also includes Tokiwa Park, set around a lake on the eastern side of the city. The park is known for its long-running outdoor sculpture exhibition, and its winding shoreline and paths add a softer, organic element to the industrial composition.
