La mappa
Udupi Map Poster & Print
Udupi lies on the coastal strip of Karnataka, between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. Its map has an unusual centre: the old town is arranged around the Sri Krishna Matha and the temples beside it, with Car Street forming a square loop around them. From that ring, roads lead out through a looser mix of houses, coconut groves and paddy fields.
The Krishna temple, associated with the thirteenth-century philosopher Madhvacharya, has made Udupi an important pilgrimage centre, and the town's name is known across India through Udupi cuisine and the restaurants that carry it. Just to the east, the university town of Manipal sits on higher ground, its campus buildings forming a distinct, dense cluster of streets.
To the west, the coast brings rivers, backwaters and the fishing harbour at Malpe, with St Mary's Islands lying offshore. A Udupi map poster can take in the whole of this arrangement: the temple ring at the heart, Manipal on its rise, and the channels and shoreline running along the sea.

Manipal
The neighbouring university town lies to the east, where campus buildings, hostels and hospital blocks create one of the densest clusters of streets on the map.
Malpe coast
West of the centre, rivers meet the sea near the Malpe fishing harbour, and the shoreline, estuaries and offshore islands add fine detail to the edge of the map.

Perché Udupi
Una mappa che ha un significato
Udupi is a map for devotees, for families from the coastal Tulu, Konkani and Kannada communities, and for the many students and doctors who spent years in Manipal. The temple at the centre gives the poster a natural focal point that holds the eye.
Personalise the title, a subtitle such as a graduation year, and the coordinates line. Choose from five styles; Paper and Sand suit the town's warmth. Buy the HD files for $9 in six sizes, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
