Branching lane network
Roads divide and rejoin like the veins of a leaf, following old property lines and the gentle rise and fall of the land.

La mappa
Venganoor Map Poster & Print
Venganoor lies on the southern edge of Thiruvananthapuram, between the city and the coast around Kovalam and Vizhinjam. Its map looks nothing like a gridded town. Narrow roads wind between house plots and coconut groves, branching and rejoining without an obvious centre. Ponds and low ground appear as small breaks in the street pattern, and the coastline lies just beyond the western edge.
The place is best known as the birthplace of Ayyankali, the social reformer who campaigned for the rights of marginalised communities in Travancore in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His name is part of Venganoor's identity, and the area is remembered in Kerala's history of civil rights and access to public roads and schools.
A Venganoor map poster reads almost like a drawing of a garden: fine lines that fork and curve, with few straight edges. Placed next to the tighter plan of Thiruvananthapuram to the north, it shows how Kerala's settlements tend to spread through the landscape instead of gathering into a single dense core.

Near the coast
The Arabian Sea shoreline around Kovalam and Vizhinjam lies close by. Including it in the frame gives the poster a firm western edge.
Water and green gaps
Ponds, paddy remnants and palm-shaded plots leave open spaces between the lanes. These unbuilt areas give the composition room to breathe.
