Right-bank Volga
The river runs along the edge of town in a wide, uninterrupted band. It gives the poster a strong horizontal base, and the street grid lines up with the shore.

La mappa
Vol’sk Map Poster & Print
Vol’sk sits on the right bank of the Volga, the higher bank, where the river runs south through Saratov Oblast. On a map the town reads as a long band pressed between the water and a line of hills. Streets run parallel to the shore on the lower ground, while ravines cut in from the uplands and break the grid into separate pieces.
The hills around Vol’sk are made of chalk and marl, and that geology shaped the town's work. Vol’sk has long been known for its cement industry, with plants and quarries on the outskirts that show on the map as large, irregular clearings. The settlement received town status in 1780, and older blocks near the centre keep a regular layout from that period.
A Vol’sk map poster captures a riverside town defined by its terrain. The broad Volga fills one edge with calm white or dark space. Street lines follow the bank, and the ravines and industrial sites give the rest of the composition an uneven, textured rhythm.

Chalk hills
Steep uplands rise behind the town. Their slopes and quarries push the street pattern into narrow strips and leave open areas where the ground is too steep to build on.
Ravine divisions
Gullies running down toward the river split Vol’sk into distinct districts. On the map they show as winding gaps between otherwise orderly blocks.

Perché Vol’sk
Una mappa che ha un significato
Volga towns carry a particular kind of memory, of summers by the water, steep walks up from the bank and the view back across the river. A map of Vol’sk keeps that geography in a form that sits comfortably in a modern interior.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or the year someone left for the city. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and get it as HD files for $9 or as a printed poster.
