Irrigation canals
Long canals and their branches cross the plain in parallel lines. They are the most distinctive feature of the map and a legacy of one of China's oldest irrigation systems.

La mappa
Yanghe Map Poster & Print
Yanghe is the seat of Yongning County in Ningxia, just south of the regional capital, Yinchuan. It lies on the Yinchuan Plain, a fertile strip of land along the Yellow River, with the Helan Mountains rising to the west. The map shows a regular modern grid bordered by fields and cut by long irrigation canals.
Irrigation has shaped this plain for more than two thousand years, and some of Ningxia's canal systems trace their origins to the Qin and Han dynasties. As a result, the countryside around Yanghe is drawn in straight lines. Main canals, branch channels, field edges and crossing roads create a crisp, almost architectural pattern.
A Yanghe map poster shows how water turns a dry region green. The town's compact blocks sit at the centre, the canals divide the land into neat parcels, and the edges of the plain hint at the desert and mountains beyond. It is a striking choice for anyone interested in landscapes shaped by engineering and agriculture.
