La mappa
Yanzhou Map Poster & Print
Yanzhou is a district of Jining in southwestern Shandong, on the flat, fertile plain that stretches across this part of the province. The map shows a city built without major natural obstacles. It has straight avenues, large rectangular blocks and a clear north–south and east–west structure. The Si River passes through the area, and irrigation channels thread across the surrounding fields.
Yanzhou is best known as a railway town. The Beijing–Shanghai railway runs through it, and lines branching east toward the coast make it one of the region's important junctions. The historic city of Qufu, birthplace of Confucius, lies a short distance to the east, and road and rail link the two places closely.
A Yanzhou map poster is a study in lines. Rail tracks cut long diagonals and curves through the urban grid, marshalling yards form wide pale bands, and the regular blocks of newer districts extend outward across the plain. It is a clean, orderly composition that suits the more graphic styles, particularly Blueprint and Classic black & white.

Si River
The river crosses the district on its way over the plain. It gives an otherwise straight-edged map a softer, winding line and a natural break between neighbourhoods.
Grid on the plain
Wide avenues and large blocks spread evenly in every direction. The flat land made this layout possible, and it is typical of planned growth in northern China.
