Colonial grid
The centre follows a Spanish colonial plan, with regular blocks around a main square. It gives the middle of the map a neat, legible structure.

La mappa
Yoro Map Poster & Print
Yoro is the capital of the Honduran department of the same name. It lies in an interior valley surrounded by forested mountain ridges. The town is small and compact, with a colonial-style grid of streets around a central square and a church, and roads leave through gaps in the hills towards the rest of the department.
Yoro is known well beyond Honduras for the Lluvia de Peces, the "rain of fish". Most years, during heavy early-summer storms, residents report finding small fish on the ground after the rain, and the town holds a festival to celebrate it. The explanation is still debated, but the tradition has become part of Yoro's identity.
A Yoro map poster shows the town as a tight rectangle of blocks inside a much wilder landscape. Streams come down from the surrounding slopes and cut across the valley floor, and the roads follow the easiest ground. The difference between the orderly centre and the irregular country around it gives the print its character.

Valley setting
Yoro sits on a valley floor enclosed by mountain ridges. The roads leading out bend and narrow as they climb into the surrounding hills.
Upland streams
Small rivers and creeks run down from the higher ground and across the valley. On the poster they add fine curving lines around the town's straight streets.

Perché Yoro
Una mappa che ha un significato
Yoro is a place people remember for its surroundings as well as its streets, including the mountains, the storms and a tradition that makes it famous. A map of the town is a quiet way to keep all of that in view, especially for anyone living far from Honduras.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for example with a family name, a festival year or a simple "Yoro, Honduras", and add coordinates if you like. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives the print a warm, archival feel.
