The long runway
The airfield's main runway, among the longest in Europe, cuts a straight line across the south of the map, with taxiways and aprons spreading out beside it.

La mappa
Zhukovsky Map Poster & Print
Zhukovsky lies southeast of Moscow on the Moskva River. It grew around aviation research, and its layout shows it: residential districts and green courtyards in the centre, research campuses at the edges, and to the south a vast airfield whose runway stretches for several kilometres, dwarfing everything else on the map.
The town is named after Nikolai Zhukovsky, a pioneer of aerodynamics, and is home to TsAGI, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, as well as the Gromov Flight Research Institute. The airfield has hosted the MAKS international air show, which for many years brought large crowds and new aircraft to the town.
A Zhukovsky map poster makes an unusual subject: a place where the largest shape on the page is not a park or a lake but a runway. Set against the curve of the river and the forests around the town, that long straight strip gives the composition a strong, deliberate axis.

Moskva River bend
The river loops along one side of the town, a flowing contrast to the rigid geometry of the airfield and the research sites.
Research campuses
The large enclosed sites of the aviation institutes appear as broad blocks with sparse internal roads, clearly different from the regular courtyards of the housing districts.

Perché Zhukovsky
Una mappa che ha un significato
Engineers, pilots and aviation enthusiasts often want a place on the wall that reflects their work, and few towns say aviation as directly as this one. It is also a natural gift for families who have lived here for generations around the institutes.
Set a custom title, a subtitle with a meaningful date and your own coordinates line. The five styles include Blueprint, well suited to a town built on engineering drawings, along with Classic, Noir, Paper and Sand, available as files or printed posters.
