Right-angled streets
The core of Zizhuang follows a largely orthogonal layout, which is typical of towns on the North China Plain, where flat ground places few limits on straight roads.

La mappa
Zizhuang Map Poster & Print
Zizhuang lies on the broad plain of northern Jiangsu, in the wider orbit of Xuzhou, a region long shaped by farming and by water management. The land is almost completely flat, and on a map the result is a settlement drawn with straight lines: roads meeting at near right angles, with blocks of housing and workshops in between.
Around the built-up core, the surrounding countryside is divided by field boundaries, canals and irrigation ditches, and they repeat the same geometry at a larger scale. The town has no dramatic coastline or mountain to anchor it. Instead, its character comes from order and repetition, from how evenly the plain has been measured out.
A Zizhuang map poster suits anyone who appreciates graphic restraint. Printed in black and white, the rectangular street grid and the fine threads of water channels read almost like a textile pattern. For people with roots in northern Jiangsu, it records a hometown that most atlases pass over, shown carefully and without exaggeration.

Channels and ditches
Thin lines of irrigation and drainage channels cross the surrounding land, a quiet network that reflects centuries of water management in this part of Jiangsu.
Field geometry
Beyond the houses, farmland is divided into long rectangular plots, extending the town's grid outward so the edge between settlement and countryside feels continuous.

Perché Zizhuang
Una mappa che ha un significato
A hometown in rural Jiangsu rarely appears on anything printed. This map gives it a place on the wall and records the street pattern as it is today, which suits anyone who has moved to a larger city.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or the year you left, and choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files come in six print sizes, and each one is a 300 DPI PNG with a print-ready PDF.
